I went for an hour walk tonight, and caught 3 Syther, a pincer, a Magmar, and a 505cp Rhydon. The northern area near where it starts to head down toward the river seems to be especially rich. Ekans and Doduo are ridiculously common, but I also found multiple Syther, Pincer, Ryhorn, Pikachu, Eevee, Magmar, Bulbasaur, Charmander, Weedle, Caterpie, Nidoran, Venonat, Growlithe, Abra, Eggsecute, and Ponyta in the area as well. I believe I counted around 4-5 gyms within it, and around 100 pokestops. You're also more likely to catch Chancey, jigglypuff, and other pink, cuddly Pokemon there. It has two gyms and around around 10 pokestops. Found it again the next day at the same spot, and then again that night. I found a Vileplume sitting on avenue 15 between Valley Children's and the 99. Certain Pokemon will sit in specific areas. The high class suburbs around Woodward lake are a decent place to find Vulpix and Growlithe. Nothing too rare, but the common Pokemon are plentiful, as are the pokestops, and many people set out lures. Regardless, you're much more likely to find good stuff if you stick to well established areas. I gained this suspicion by finding a pokestop based upon a piece of graffiti that used to be on my work place. I'm fairly certain that the gyms and stops are built off of someone walking around 2-3 years ago, and taking pictures for a completely different game. Don't go to any place that was just built within the last three or so years. Here's what I've got for you all after 24 hours of playing.
